Have You 'Found' Twitter, Yet?

If you haven't 'Found' Twitter yet, I suggest you give it a try. Here is a link list from a fellow 'Twitterer'- http://tweepml.org/?t=1228
What I do, is look through the list, see if anyone has like interests and click on their name. The click takes me to their page, and I click on the 'Follow' button. I would do this for about 10-15 people. And watch... contribute when you're ready- on what you know about.
It took me a few months before I got any followers- I have 37 today- WOOHOO! I have learned A LOT with twitter- and made some friends.
You'd be surprised- give it a try!
My twitter name is sharnon007

Working on a new site for collaborators...

I initially sent out this message in our ning group. I'm sending a copy here as well.

I am proud of our membership here, but we don't have enough room to add all the content we have to share. I plan to do something that I hope will benefit the educators and parents that are concerned obout childrens' education. This site will remain open, but in addition, to ning I've decided to make a website for K-6 Reading Teachers (The Treasures Series will be the 1st priority). Even parents of students that use Treasures in the classroom will have a place to learn about whats being taught during a certain 'story week' and have a forum to ask questions- to get help. I plan to add forums and different sections for different things. Teacher members that I'm looking for are the ones that want to collaborate with others- on lesson plans, helping out with making questions and worksheets and games for classrooms. If any of you are interested in a collaborative environment, rtoa.us will be the place for you. All interactive games I've made will be accessible- there'll be NO ADS- unless it's something that could be beneficial and inexpensive for your classroom.
I feel like this would be a great step to help the KIDS- they're the ones that benefit from teachers working together.
Our mottos for R.T.O.A. - Reading Teachers Online Arsenal is 'Conspiring to Inspire' and 'Educators as Inspirators' and 'Inspired to Teach' and 'Conspiring to Teach'. I believe that now, especially with the new technologies that are available, we have a GREAT chance to teach, to inspire and have great communication with our students. I believe in learning to teach the way they learn. I believe that we need to work together on these things. I know that we have had a lot of people join that want to collaborate and make things and come up with new ideas. If you're one of those people, I'll be glad to have you at rtoa.us
Right now, I'm just working on what I should use to make this site- joomla, drupal, xoops, etc. I'm a completely ignorant about website design- but I'll be learning quick- lol ;-)
Also, anyone really interested in contributing their work will be able to upload their files. I'll have unlimited space.
I'm more than willing to have input about this project and anyone interested in any aspect of this endeavor can contact me at my email address. If you're in my groups, you know how to find me.
You can also respond to this post at rtoa.us/wp1 If you have any ideas or comments I'd like to hear them.

I am working on the main site- hopefully, I'll have something that we can work with soon- whaddya' think of a wiki?

Great places to find edugames... work in progress

http://www.educational-freeware.com/ Don't let the title fool you. This is a great place to find free stuff. Downloads and online places.

http://worldlearningtree.com/ This is a developing site. 1st thing that happens is Unity Web P/layer will load- then you'll find yourself on an island. Look around and you'll see Reading, Music and look up you'll see Geography (the globe). Click on desired title. I'm using FireFox, had some problems- but, I'd keep my eyes on this one. I think a lot of kids games will start using this type of environment.

http://primarygames.com/ Lot's of games- watch the ads!

http://www.symbaloo.com Visual bookmark place. You can sign up and look at others' screens. I've found quite a few targeted at kids games. I love this place- used it for years! I think it's especially good because it's made in another country and used my people all over the world, so you can get exposed to sites you wouldn't normally be exposed to.
